Rick Jobe has performed music from an early age, touring for over three decades in Huntsville. He was also an original owner of the Fret Shop music store, taught private lessons for thirty years, and founded Random Access Music. This multimedia company afforded him the opportunity to produce music and audio and to record Grammy winning singers.
In midlife he acquired three college degrees and became an ordained minister to the homeless, founding the Grateful Life Community Church. Rick ended his many careers as a college professor at Athens State University and Martin Methodist College. In 2012, he retired from all of the above except performing music.
Moving to Nashville allowed Rick the opportunity to perform with a wide range of stellar talents (including Grammy winners) who themselves backed up the likes of Dave Brubeck, Loretta Lynn, Janie Fricke, Olivia Newton-John and Leon Russell. In 2014, he founded the Western Swing band Rick Jobe and the Wonderin’ Cowboys, which brings to life the eclectic country/jazz genre of the 1930s. He continues to delight audiences in Tennessee and North Alabama, including concert appearances at Harken Hall in Nashville. Rick is a nominee for inclusion in the 2027 Western Swing Music Society of the Southwest, Hall of Fame.
In 2026, Rick founded the delta western band, the Jobros. They often perform as the Jobros with Dobros because of their extensive use of resonator instruments, including even a rare Dobro bass guitar! Their eclectic mix of Delta Blues and Western swing makes for a fun and entertaining experience.
